Mayo singer brings a little bit of New York home to Attymass

The Manchester based Irish Country Singer Marian Waldron, whose Mayo roots stem from Lahardane and Ballyhaunis will be bringing a little bit of New York home to Attymass when she helps launch this years 2018 Mayo Manchester Tradfest. Marian has just come back from New York where she was filming her new single 'When New York was Irish', the video for the record was filmed at the Hunger Memorial featuring the famine house from Attymass. Marian commented "I'm launching the single in the UK on the 4th July - American Independence Day, but I am waiting to launch it in Ireland on Thursday 2 August in Attymass. It will be great to screen the film back home in Attymass, the Famine is a very special place and it will be nice to show the film to the parishoners."

The launch at the Fr Peyton Centre in Attymass will feature a live radio broadcast by Midwest Radio featuring a whole host of award winning Irish musicians, singers, dancers and VIP's, these include: Joe Keegan from the BBC TV show, the Voice, The Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band, Con Murphy, Dennis McCalmont, Sean Nos Dancers Laura and Sandra Ganley as seen on RTE, The Light Staves, Sina Theil, The Attymass Youth Choir and Alan Keegan the Voice of Old Trafford at Manchester United Football Club.

Marian has a full schedule of appearances in this years week long Tradfest, as well as her appearance in Attymass she will also be performing at the VIP Concert launch at Breaffy House Resort Hotel in Castlebar at 9pm on Thursday 2 August, on Saturday 4 August she returns to Ballina to play the 6th Annual Mayo Manchester Tradfest Concert and finally on Sunday 5 August she performs at the debut Mayo Manchester Tradfest Concert at the Claremorris Town Hall Theatre.

Marian's debut album was released in March 2017, she has so far released 4 singles from the album with videos achieving two singles in the Irish Country Top 20 at the same time. Her first single 'Isle of Hope' featured a video which was filmed by Alan Clarke along 200 miles of the Mayo coastline. It has been featured on Europe’s only country music channel, 'Keep It Country TV Channel' and the Irish In the Uk on SKY TV. Her second single 'Gypsy, Joe & Me' - A Dolly Parton classic from 1969 reached Number 7 in the Irish Country Charts. The third single 'Country Roads', reached number 5 in the Irish Country Music Charts and held the number 1 place in Strabane Top 20 for 6 weeks. Her fourth single 'An Irish Mother', which was co-written with B.G.Pollock was released in March 2018. It has had huge success and the video was filmed all around North Mayo, featuring Pontoon and Lahardane.

Marian's debut appearance in New York in March 2018 was where she launched 'An Irish Mother'. Following the success of her debut at The Irish American Society in Mineola New York, she has already been invited back to appear in Gertrude Byrne Promotions Irish Weekend in Catskills, New York in November 2018 alongside Philomena Begley.
