Mayo CEO welcomes Manchester Tradfest to Foxford

The Mayo Manchester Tradfest were given a VIP welcome when they visited the MayFly Hotel in Foxford. Peter Hynes the CEO of Mayo County Council along with local councillor Nial Cruise greeted the group when they performed in the hotel as part of their week long Traditional Irish Music, Song and Dance Festival.

Tony Hennigan the director of the group commented "We were delighted at the welcome we received in Foxford, it was very kind of Peter to pop along to greet the performers. The group staged a parade around the town calling at the Admiral Brown Memorial Centre and the Foxford Woolen Mills with the Fianna Phadraig Pipe Band. I even got to make my world debut on the Bass Drum with the band. After the parade the group staged an afternoon seisiun in the Hotel with Joe Keegan and dancers from the Keegan Academy."

The Tradfest was launched on Thursday 3 August and ran through to Wednesday 9 August with a week of performances in 6 different hubs in Mayo.
